New Hampshire Clean Diesel Grant Program
DERA grant program aims to reduce emissions from diesel engines
The New Hampshire Clean Diesel Grant Program is funded by EPA through the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) with additional funding from the New Hampshire VW Mitigation Trust. The program is managed by the Air Resources Division, Technical Services Bureau of NHDES. The goal of this grant program is to reduce the emissions from diesel engines in the State. Projects eligible for funding include vehicle and equipment replacement, engine replacement, idle reduction technologies and aerodynamic technologies. Funding opportunities are guided each year by the annual DERA work plan. See the 2023 NHDES Work Plan.
Grant funding reimburses a portion of eligible project costs; the portion depends on the project type. For example, a project replacing a diesel vehicle with an electric vehicle can be reimbursed for up to 45% of the project cost; a project replacing an old diesel vehicle with a newer, cleaner diesel vehicle can be reimbursed for up to 25% of the project cost.
This program is a reimbursement program only.
